Has your child gotten their Tdap Vaccine yet?

A new California law requires all 7th through 12th graders to be vaccinated against whooping cough (pertussis) before attending classes this year. For more on school vaccine requirements visit www.shotsforschool.org. If you are unsure which immunizations your child still needs, give us a call and we would be happy to help!

September is ADHD Awareness Month 

If you suspect that your child might have ADHD, don’t hesitate to call our office for an evaluation. Evaluations are easy and painless and often consist of a physical examination, a review of patient records and medical history, and possible diagnostic testing. ADHD is fairly common and nothing to be embarrassed about. Dr. Sher, an ADHD specialist, works with his patients to develop a custom treatment plan that works best for you. Treatment plans will always include close monitoring, follow-ups, and making any necessary changes along the way. Although attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder cannot be cured, we can help you successfully manage and treat your child’s ADHD. Click here for a list of ADHD resources.

What’s New:

Dr. Saad Welcomes a Grandson

Dr. Saad’s daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Theodore earlier this month. Dr. Saad is thrilled to become a grandmother. Congratulations Dr. Saad and family! We wish you all of the best!

 Dr. Chen's First Day at PVMG 

 The most recent addition to our practice, Dr. Stephanie Chen, had her first official day at PVMG on August 27^th. Dr. Chen, who specializes in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, is now seeing patients of all ages and will be at the office full-time! Please help us in welcoming her to the South Bay and to PVMG. Also, be sure to check out her profile in the upcoming issue of Southbay Magazine, which went on sale yesterday!

PVMG Goes Green

Next time you are in the office you will notice that paper charts at PVMG are becoming a thing of the past! We are thrilled to be finishing up the process of transferring over to electronic medical records. Not only will this help reduce our carbon footprint, but it will give patients the ability to log on to a portal and receive their lab results, physician recommendations and much more! We appreciate your patience while we make these changes and hope that these enhancements will help us to better serve you.

New Appointment Reminder System

We are making it more convenient for you to communicate with our practice! We will now be sending appointment reminders via e-mail, text messages to your cell phone, pager, or PDA. Please make sure you provide us with your current information so that you have one less phone call to answer! When you receive a message by e-mail, simply click the icon provided for confirmation. Confirm as soon as you receive the first message, and you're done! The other messages will simply be reminders. If you do not want to receive text messages or e-mails, please let us know and we would be happy to disable that feature for you.

Complimentary Newborn Baby Care Classes - Tuesday, September 18^th & Tuesday, October 16^th, 7:00 pm at Palos Verdes Medical Group

We are happy to announce that we will now be offering newborn baby care classes on a monthly basis! New and experienced parents welcome! This one-session class is free of charge and open to our patients and community members. Topics such as breastfeeding, bottle feeding and infant care will be covered. Project Shoe - Saturday, September 29th, 8:00 am  

Join the Kiwanis Club of Rolling Hills Estates and Payless Shoe Source for this fun and memorable event! Shoes, socks, school supplies, backpacks, toothbrushes and toothpaste will be given to approximately 100 deserving children. Entertainment & refreshments provided. Mary’s Promenade on the Peninsula 5K Run/Walk – Sunday, October 14^th, 8:30 am

Palos Verdes Medical Group is sponsoring the 2012 Promenade on the Peninsula 5K Run/Walk. Mary’s Promenade on the Peninsula 5k Run is an exciting and unique 5K that starts directly on the Promenade mall, takes a picturesque loop through the beautiful city of Rolling Hill Estates, and finishes again with runners sprinting past Center Court of the Promenade Mall. All proceeds benefit the YWCA Harbor/South Bay. Register in person at iBerries Frozen Yogurt or online. Let us know that you registered and receive a free t-shirt to wear on race day! FAAN Walk for Food Allergy - Sunday, October 21st, 12:00 pm 

Palos Verdes Medical Group and Peninsula Research Associates are walking to support FAAN (The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network). They provide food allergy awareness, advocacy, and education, and they support research for the 12 million Americans, including 3 million children, with a potentially life-threatening food allergy.
