It’s flu season once again and the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the physicians at Palos Verdes Medical Group are recommending the influenza vaccine (i.e. flu shot) for all individuals, including all children and adolescents, aged 6 months and older during the 2014 – 2015 flu season.
We are currently experiencing a delay with our influenza vaccine shipment. Unfortunately, this delay has been felt across all Fluzone quadrivalent vaccine presentations. We expect to receive 500 doses of this vaccine by the end of October. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused you and your family. Please note that the vaccine we are currently waiting on is the quadrivalent influenza vaccine, which is different than the trivalent influenza vaccine. Unless specifically requested, other flu clinics typically administer trivalent influenza vaccines. The quadrivalent flu vaccine is designed to protect individuals against four different flu viruses as opposed to the trivalent flu vaccine, which only protects against three flu viruses. Click here to learn more about the benefits of receiving a quadrivalent influenza vaccine.
We will be conducting flu clinic on the following dates:
- Saturday, November 1st from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Monday, November 3rd from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
- Friday, November 7th from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
- Saturday, November 8th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Monday, November 10th from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
- Friday, November 14th from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
- Saturday, November 15th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Monday, November 17th from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Please call to reserve your flu vaccine today!
Flu vaccines are also available at local pharmacies, grocery stores and drugstores. Please be aware that at this time, the majority of the vaccines being administered are trivalent influenza vaccines, not quadrivalent.
If you are ever unsure, talk with your doctor to check if the flu vaccination is right for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Remember that you could potentially be saving someone’s life by getting a simple flu shot!
