A Few Announcements & Reminders

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

According to the National Childhood Obesity website, in the last four decades, "childhood obesity has increased more than fourfold among ages 6 to 11. More than 23 million children and teenagers in the United States ages 2 to 19 are obese or overweight, a statistic that health and medical experts consider an epidemic. And this epidemic puts nearly one third of America’s children at early risk for Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and even stroke – conditions usually associated with adulthood." Save Nina Bone Marrow Donor Campaign - Update!

On her website, Nina has announced that: "while I still haven't found a donor match, we were able to find a 6/6 cord blood match! It isn't the first choice treatment, but an amazing option for which we are so grateful...Thank you for walking this journey with me and giving me the best birthday present ever. Through the campaign, we have already found TWO matches for other patients in need and literally are saving their lives. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to turn my pain into purpose. We are so grateful for you."

Nina will be receiving the transplant at the end of this week. All of us at PVMG are so excited and hopeful for Nina and her family and we want to thank you for your support! For more information about this ongoing campaign, visit www.savenina.com and for a list of upcoming donor drives click here
