Kathy still helps with sterilization, making sure instruments and equipment are sterilized and prepped for use.

Kathy is also cross-trained to help assist with fixed retainers and loves to help assist on deband days. "I love seeing our patients so happy when they get their braces off," Kathy exclaimed!
"I love my work family! It's so important to work well together and support each other. I am blessed to have that here as we all share a close bond! We all love the patients and are so appreciative of Dr. Daniel. He is so very good to us and truly cares about our work life, as well as our personal life," Kathy explained.

Prior to working at Sawrie Orthodontics, Kathy was a CNA and taught Preschool for many years. She was also a private duty caregiver.

"I love that I get to have the best of both worlds here with being around kids and working with the medical aspect. It's a perfect fit and Dr. Daniel works so hard to be a great leader and always treats his staff so well," Kathy said.

Kathy is married to Jeff and they reside on Signal Mountain. Kathy and Jeff met in middle school and are high school sweethearts. They've been together for 28 years!
Kathy and Jeff have three sons - Andrew, Devin and Matthew.

Kathy loves to spend time with her family and enjoys reading. She enjoys being outside gardening with her flowers and plants and also loves to bake.

How fun are these little Taco Cups made in a muffin tin?? I don’t think I’ll ever find another taco recipe I love more than these wonton tacos. They have double layers of crunchy taco shell, seasoned beef, spicy tomatoes, and gooey cheese all in one perfect bite!

These crunchy taco cups are such a huge hit because, I prefer soft tacos but Kevin prefers crunchy tacos. So whenever we had taco night, we always had to make two different kinds of taco recipe. BUT, this taco recipe the best of both worlds. The outside is satisfying crisp and crunchy, but the inside is soft and melty! Just how I like it. We both loved them!

Lasagna Sandwiches

Recipe Courtesy of Linda Larsen

https://www.thespruceeats.com/lasagna-sandwiches-482558

Lasagna Sandwiches are a quick and easy baked sandwich recipe that's easy to serve and fun to eat. A hollowed out roll holds a rich meat sauce and lots of cheese.

Use rolls that are about 4" in diameter. If you can only find larger or smaller rolls, adjust the filling accordingly. You can put the tops back on these sandwiches before baking, but I like how the cheese browns when they're baked without tops.

All you need to serve with this recipe is a green salad or a fruit salad and some iced tea or sparkling water. Just be careful when you bite into these sandwiches; the filling is very hot! Let them cool for 5 to 10 minutes before you dig in.

Ingredients

  • 10 round crusty rolls
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (16-ounce) jar pasta sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup grated Havarti cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Cut a thin slice off the top off each roll and set aside. Hollow out each roll, leaving a shell about 1/4" thick. (You can save the crumbs to make bread crumbs; freeze them for another use.)

  3. In a large skillet, cook the sausage with the onion and garlic, stirring to break up the meat, until the sausage is browned and cooked. Drain well.

  4. Add the pasta sauce and Italian seasoning to the meat in the skillet; simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

  5. In a medium bowl, beat together the ricotta cheese, cream cheese, and egg until blended. Stir in the Havarti cheese and mozzarella cheese.

  6. Divide the meat mixture among the hollowed-out rolls. Top each with the ricotta mixture and sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese. Place all of the filled rolls on a cookie sheet.

  7. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until the cheese on top starts to brown. Let the sandwiches cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Directions

  1. Divide strawberries among four 8-ounce dessert dishes. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon demarara sugar over strawberries in each dish.
  2. With electric mixer, whip cream to soft peaks. Fold in yogurt and spread evenly over strawberries.
  3. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of the remaining demerara sugar over each. Cover and chill for 2 to 6 hours.

Orthodontic Myth Busters

MYTH:

75% of Dentists are also Orthodontists.

FACT:

This is NOT true!!!

All Orthodontists go to dental school, so 100% of Orthodontists are Dentists, but only around 5% of Dentists are Orthodontists.

After dental school, Orthodontists go to an orthodontic residency program for an additional two to three years. An Orthodontist specializes in teeth irregularities and the prevention and treatment of imperfect positioning of the teeth when the jaws align.

OUR TREATMENT IS DIFFERENT, FROM BEGINNING TO END!

If you have crooked teeth, your entire life can be affected. Not only do crooked teeth impact the quality of your smile, but they can also lead to potentially serious oral health issues. Crooked teeth provide hiding places for oral bacteria, increasing your risk for cavities and gum disease. They can also throw off your bite, leading to issues such as bruxism and TMJ disorder. Metal braces have been the solution for correcting alignment issues with your teeth and jaws for decades, providing highly effective results. At Sawrie Orthodontics, we offer Damon braces to meet your orthodontic needs.

Damon braces provide you with a more comfortable alternative to the traditional style of metal braces, making your treatment a more pleasant one. For more information on Damon braces, and to find out if they are right for you, call Sawrie Orthodontics today at (423) 624-8217.
