Hi ! We hope you had a great summer! We saw many of your kids over the past three months, and we hope you are all enjoying back to school time. If your kids aren't in school yet, or are home schooled, fall is a great time to schedule your dental exam! This month we are featuring our newest Dental Assistant Angie! We are also talking about Over Diagnosing this month. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or need to schedule an appointment! Have a great day! Eastside Pediatric Dental Group
Meet Angie Chirinos, Dental AssistantAngie recently joined the EPDG team as a Dental Assistant. She just graduated from PIMA Medical Institute and we hired her right away! Angie loves knowing that she can take part in encouraging good oral healthcare and teaching kids the importance of it. When Angie’s not busy at work, she enjoys hiking, jamming out on her bass guitar for her church worship team, and helping out at her church.
Our Treatment Philosophy:Not Over DiagnosingIn dentistry, as with most things in life, there is more than one way of doing things. We want to share with you our philosophy on treating our patients here at EPDG. At Eastside Pediatric Dental Group, we are committed to supporting you and your child with the kind of warmth, compassion and expert care that will help your child achieve a lifetime of excellent oral health. Encouraging your kids to practice healthy oral habits at home is the best way to prevent cavities and other dental issues. At each of your child's dental appointments we will talk about healthy oral habits your child should be practicing at home. While we strive to make sure that our children are practicing good oral health care, sometimes the need for restorative care is needed. This could be fillings for cavities, extractions, or possibly crowns and sedation dentistry. We take this treatment very seriously. The size of the cavity and the age of the patient will often determine what treatment is recommended. Our process is to wait and watch most beginning cavities. We will never over-diagnose or over-treat your child. Especially with baby teeth, the tooth may fall out before the cavity grows large enough to cause discomfort. For permanent teeth, there are times when a change in habits and use of special toothpaste or rinses can strengthen the tooth and may prevent the need for fillings. Rather than filling or pulling a tooth right away, we will take a wait and see attitude with the hope that the oral health care given at home can help us to avoid a restorative appointment. At EPDG, we balance the need for invasive dental treatment with the needs of the child. We take pride in the care that we give to our patients. Our goal is healthy mouths and happy and healthy children. If you have any questions about our services or treatment plans, please ask us. We would be happy to sit down and explain them to you.
