Myofascitis - The Condition We Tolerate Did you know that greater than 75% of the patients that I see are dealing with the condition of myofascitis. The causation is numerous, but the most common is poor biomechanical hygeine. Motor vehicle accidents, slips and falls, and normal activities of daily living also cause this condition. In order words, most of us suffer from myofascitis. What can we do about it? I love dentists and their educational practices for their patients. But what does that have to do with the pain, soreness and inflammation you are dealing with on a daily basis? We are taught at a very young age the importance of brushing and flossing our teeth, as well as seeing the dentist regularly. We should be treating our body in the same manner bio-mechanically. You can think of the acronym WISE (Water, Ice, Stretch and Exercise) the same way that you think of toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, and Listerine. If we are practicing WISE as dilegent as we practice dental hygiene, the silent killer of bio-mechanical degeneration will be subdued. Water - Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. Ice - Ice areas of pain and discomfort for 20 minutes daily. Stretch - Stretch the area of complaint daily. (Come visit our rehab department, we will show you!) Exercise - 20-40 minutes a day, 4 days a week. (Come visit our rehab department for this also) The patients that I see that are practicing WISE continually are the patients that see that most positive change in their physical health. I would like to invite you to our clinic if you haven't been in a few months and allow me the opportunity to speak to you about this subject and other potential ailments that you might be facing with your physical health. Contact the office and set up a consultation today! (940)322-2400
