Keep Your Mouth and Teeth Healthy (and Warm) This Winter
It’s winter. You’re probably going to have a runny nose at some point. And if you do, you might be tempted to breathe through your mouth.
We at SmileMore know that breathing through your mouth can also trigger sensitivities and other oral health issues, itchy skin and dry mouth among them. Here are some other recommendations to keep your mouth healthy all winter long -- and beyond.
Brush Up Brush gently with a soft toothbrush because aggressive brushing can cause more dental sensitivity. If you find your teeth are feeling extra sensitive, use a desensitizing toothpaste. Flossing your teeth daily stimulates your gums so that they are less likely to recede. The more recession there is, that can cause cold sensitivity.
Hydrate Drinking water is good for your entire body, including your mouth and teeth. Water rinses out your mouth and keeps it moist, and keeps bacteria at bay. Moisture depletion can be maintained with proper hydration, reducing the feeling of a dry mouth.
To keep your mouth healthy and happy, schedule regular dental cleanings and exams. Call SmileMore today to schedule an appointment, at 860-646-1535, or click here to visit our website and learn more about our services.

Smile-More Office Happenings - February
As in past years, members of our office attended the Yankee Dental Meeting in Boston. At the meeting Carol, Shelly and Mary Ann attended a course on oral cancer where they reviewed oral cancer risk factors, risk sites and early detection. Our office takes oral cancer detection seriously and an oral cancer screening is part of every dental hygiene appointment.
Winter is upon us- be safe!
