Summer Carnivals!
It's that time of year with festivals and carnivals! Along with the rides and games comes the allure of deep-fried and sugary sweet foods you can’t get anywhere else.
A staple item of the fairground is cotton candy. Surprisingly, cotton candy is not as harmful to your smile as you might think. One of the unique qualities of cotton candy that makes it a sweeter friend to teeth is its stringy, airy texture. This allows it to dissolve and wash away quicker than chewy candies. Gummy and chewy candies stick to teeth and have the potential to uproot fillings and loosen braces, as well as can lead to an acid attack that continues to damage teeth for up to 20 minutes after eating.
So next time you head out to your local fairgrounds, feel free to indulge in some pink or blue spun sugar. Just remember to brush when you get home!

Smile-More Office Happenings-August
This month we wish a happy birthday to Denise A. A few last summer vacations have been enjoyed. Dr Erickson spent a week on the Cape, Marina enjoyed time with her grandsons, Denise V was in Vermont, Alison took a week off with her granddaughter and Shelly spent time on Lake Winnipesaukee with her family.
As we move into the new school year please call to check availability for the kids to get a cleaning before they start back. Enjoy the transition into fall.
