      Happy Summer and Happy 4th of July! Summer is finally here! It's time for warm days, vacations, picnics, parades, the backyard barbeque, time with family outdoors, and the 4th of July; also known as Independence Day. Before we fire up that grill, we need to take a few moments to remember why we celebrate Independence Day.

      We all enjoy the many freedoms we are privledged to have in America. These freedoms were declared, penned, and won by our founders. They continue to be defended and protected by the many men and women who have served and are serving in our armed forces today. So many have given their lives so that America can remain strong and true to the ideals this country was founded on. "That all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." (From the Declaration of Independence)

      We cannot celebrate our independence without remembering the sacrifices that were made and continue to be made by so many serving our country. So, when you see a person who has served/is serving, thank them for their service. It is by their service that we continue to live in the "land of the free and the brave". Freedom does not happen without bravery and responsibility. Fly the flag with pride as we join with others to celebrate in America, "Liberty and Justice for all".
