When I arrived at Forsyth Family, I was greeted by a very professional receptionist. After a short wait I was taken to the pre-examination tests. The tests took no more than 10 minutes. Then I moved over to the exam room and met Dr. Appanaitis. I went through the tests and he determined that my eyes had not changed since my last exam. Great news! He offered to have my Silhouettes adjusted. Just what they needed. I was out and on my way in about 40 minutes. Some of the best customer service I've had in a while.

Very pleased with care and attention to my individual case. Would encourage checking screen used for checking for glaucoma as there appear many small black dots of varying lengths. I would also check the accuracy of the blood pressure cuff. If I heard correctly, the reading stated to me was not probable. When I had it rechecked the next day, the reading was accurate with my medical record.

You know, I love to hate these surveys. Mainly bcs they take time and I have to be honest. Sometimes that's hard. You want my honest feedback... ok. Dr. Gurley was great. Pleasure being her patient and she was very professional and knowledgeable. The tech .... kinda needs some feedback/experience. She seemed nice enough and very polite. But a couple times I was expected to know things that she should have explained. For instance, never seen a blood pressure cuff like that before! But all she told me was to hold it against my chest. How was I to know that in order for it to take a proper reading, it had to be held with the display directly against my chest in the region of my heart. THAT would have been better than, "hold this against your chest." And if I correctly read what she wrote, it took a BP that was was off the charts! (173/135??). So it took the reading wrong and she never said a word about it. If my blood pressure was really that high, I have a problem! (it's never been over ~130/80). Secondly, the eye photo. Never seen that machine before either. But it was hard with minimal instructions from her (press harder. Press harder. Press harder. Look for the green light.) Well, ok. Call me stupid, but there a little more to it than pressing harder and looking for a green light. You have to position you face just so, with your eye in the center and your face angled just right to ensure the hole is not only covered, but in full contact to eliminate any light leaks. At the same time, you need to look for a colored circle of lights and try to angle your face and press just hard enough to turn the lights from red to green, with green meaning you are in the proper position for the machine to take the picture. Now is that so hard?

We appreciated the ease of establishing our relationship with you after moving into the area. The exam was very thorough, and everyone is very friendly. I especially appreciated Dr. Vo giving me a "heads up" about the possible cost of the Restasis MultiDose that she gave me a prescription for. It turns out to be outrageously expensive! Thankfully we didn't have her submit it to my online pharmacy.

Dr. Vo is always cheerful and very pleasant. She spends the time to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your eyes. She has been working with me with my dry eye issues and has helped me to start to fix this issue and informed me it doesn't get cured overnight and we would keep working on the problem. The medication she prescribed has really been helping a lot !!

I had a horrible experience. I had to wait for over a month for an appointment then texted and emailed repeatedly about my appointment. My appoint. was scheduled for 4:00 and confirmed numerous times but at 4:15 I was not even in a room. At that time I asked how far behind they were and was told 45 minutes. I had to leave because even if I had been in front of the Dr. in 45 minutes my appointment would still be going on. I scheduled the appointment with their schedule and my work and children's schedule and they failed to keep their end of a professional relationship. This review is actually humorous as well because it sttates they enjoyed seeing me and in fact they never saw me.

FFEC is a nice, clean, comfortable and professionally run office. Other than a short hiatus, I've been a patient at this practice for over 40 years. I was having a bit of an emergency, but the staff (and Dr. A) were able to fit me in. I expected to have a long wait as I was worked into the schedule and dreaded that as I was very uncomfortable due to pain associated with my situation. I was taken back almost immediately upon my arrival and Dr. A came in to see me shortly after. I think I was there 30 minutes total; had an exam, received meds, had a script phoned to my pharmacy and left MUCH better than when I arrived. It was AWESOME! Thank you all SO much for your care and concern!

AND, my prescription wasn't copied down right and I'm on my second make of glasses...which I don't think will be right considering there was very little change in the new prescription...and the problem was I couldn't see well out of either area of the new bifocals. I'm sure I will be back with the second making of the glasses to have another Doc recheck my vision. This has really been a bad first visit to your clinic.

Our experience with Dr. Vo was very disappointing. We will not be returning to your practice. Dr, Vo was rude, impatient, and condescending. She made Abby feel uncomfortable when she loudly said "Why is it taking you so long to answer?" Abby didn't understand that a response could be "the same." This was not explained to her. Dr. Vo dilated Abby's eyes then told us she would be back in 5 minutes, 25 minutes later she returned. Her disrespect for the patient/doctor relationship is apparent. Dr. Vo was condescending when she tried to explain Abby's eyesight to me. I am a chemistry teacher at Reagan High School, I am not an idiot. I understand a astigmatism. I feel like she was trying to sell me glasses when she said that Abby doesn't need a prescription. Our family of four, was excited about coming to your practice because of the location. However, you have lost our business and our recommendation to our friends and colleagues.

I was asked if I had questions, but I guess I was so stunned at my situation that I did not have time to think of questions during my visit. Hopefully those will be addressed later at Dr. John's office. The new office is beautiful. However, I think the sofa in the waiting area was not designed for the comfort of elderly patients or anyone with difficulties such as fibromyalgia in getting up and down. It's a beautiful sofa, but just not very comfortable or easy to get up from without assistance. All the staff that I dealt with were very courteous and efficient.

What I don't love is the cost kg contacts and the extra cost for "contact exam" even though they were not examined. $60 for a single pair of contacts given at the end is too much! I also felt like the staff were not happy with my decision to take the prescription and shop around for a better price. The price for contacts is not competitive. I would like to purchase them from the same office, just can't afford it even with insurance paying for part of them.

I would have expected them to give me AT LEAST 5 minutes because I wasn't aware of their move. I was strongly considering switching to another practice because the customer service was poor. I have been with this practice for at least 15 years and they could never find my chart or pronounce my name, just no effort to do better. Then I met Dr. Gurly and I notice a little change in customer service; even though that exam co-pay at my last visit through me for a loop, I decided to stick around. When I called on 10/28/15 to explain my situation, I spoke to Phyllis and she was wonderful, she asked for my call back number, consulted with the doctor and called me back in a matter of minutes, great customer service. I was worked in & I really appreciate that. I should have gotten more information on eye infections. I just confirmed that my insurance did not change, don't know if I will get a bill or not. When I got to the drug store, I was in shock because my co-pay was 86.00. I didn't wait too long. I noticed a lot of new faces and improved customer service.

This was my first appointment at Forsyth Family Eye Care and it was a pleasure. All of the staff werr extremely friendly and helpful with all of my decisions. Upon arrival, the staff greeted me and quickly took me back for my appointment. Dr. Gurley checked my vision and allowed me to look at sunglasses while I waited for my eyes to dialate. I picked out a pair of prescription sunglasses and three women assisted me in making my final choice. Overall I was very satisfied with my experience and recommended the practice to a friend that day. Forsyth Family Eye Care is a wonderful office to take care of all of your eye care needs.

I was a little disappointed that I was told that I would only have to pay a $40 co-pay, but when I went to check out I had to pay $40 on the exam and another $45 because I wanted contacts. I was given a pair to wear for a week and then I have to go back for the doctor to check them, which I did not understand because I have worn them for years. She also wants to dilate my eyes. I guess this means I will have to pay another $85 and I do not have it. I had to cancel appointments prior to this one because of the $40 co-pay. I do not have a job now and my budget is very limited. So if I have to pay more, then I will have to cancel. Also, I asked for my prescriptions for glasses and contacts and she said she would give them to me, but she did not do so. I guess she is waiting for my next appointment to do that. My insurance will only pay for the first visit.

Due to eye issues I've had throughout my entire life, I've only ever experienced eye care at Duke Eye Center in Durham. Unable to make it to Durham, I came to Forsyth Family Eye Care. I thought my Doctor was fantastic and helped me tremendously! My only issue is this; I have strabismus (lazy eye), an aesthetic ailment no one outside of family knows about because my eyes straighten out when I wear my contacts. I understand that in order for the Doctor to examine me properly, I need to take out my contacts. I am very comfortable taking my contacts out around family and eye care professionals. What I didn't appreciate was after they dilated my pupils, I wasn't allowed to put my contacts back in. Thus, my eye was crossed. Then I was ushered into the main lobby area in front of all the other patients to look for glasses...cross-eyed and practically blind from pupil dilation. I can't put in to words just how uncomfortable this made me. I recommend the eye care, not the customer experience.

After more than a week, I am still awaiting contact lenses to "try" per the Physician before new ones can be ordered. Per the office staff, there is some sort of back up in billing and at this point, I'm uncertain if they will ever have the contacts in. Ginger was out to lunch & I left a message for Kathy days ago and have not heard back from anyone.

Karen- I'm very sorry that you have had a difficult time with obtaining your contact lens. I personally requested yesterday that someone call you immediately and find out how we can assist. I hope they were able to give you the information that you need.

Staff who did my pre-exam testings were fantastic friendly &kind. I would come back based on the interaction with them. Dr. G is awesome! My exam was professional &personable. Dr. G made sure I knew exactly what she was doing &was friendly. I would come back based on that interaction as well. However, when I looked at the frames I was disappointed. I only saw designer frames that were at a higher cost than I'm used to paying. But the frames I saw were way out of my price budget (like car payment prices)which probably didn't include lenses.When the staff person came out to help me with glasses I let her know that they were pricey &I wasn't looking for designer frames. She didn't offer any rec's/solutions. Her smile went from bright &happy to non-existent. The interaction ended &she started writing in my chart. She made me feel I wasn't worth her time. Her attitude sullied my experience. I won't be back bcos of her. There was no need for that.

We are so sorry that you had a negative experience with a member of our staff. We do offer a wide range of eye ware for all prices but our new move has slowed down our ability to get all of our merchandise on the floor. The health of your eyes is our main concern, so we hope you will see you back.

We are sorry we were unorganized for your visit. After 45 years we relocated to a new facility and our staff had to be up and running in a short amount of time. We feel that we are now, finally, back on track.

We are serious about the health of your eyes. Appointment times vary depending on the type of appointment. A full exam can take 1-2 hours. This includes the time needed to check your glasses prescription and to dilate your eyes. Some follow-up appointments may be as quick as 15 minutes.

I had an appointment about April 20. I got there and it was snowing. No one was at the office. I called about a week later and got an answering machine. I called again last week, got an answering machine, left a message. No one responded to my message. I stopped in the office on the March 23. I was told to have a seat. I waited about 20 minutes, the girl said that the doctor would see me. Dr. Appanaitis is kind and very thorough. I was told that I needed a change in prescription in my glasses. The lady took my glasses and said it would be two weeks. Most places will do them in 3-4 days. Dr. Appanaitis is great. Everything else about my visit was not good.

The only complaint I have is that no one got in touch with me regarding my yearly appointment. 18 months past my yearly check-up. it dawned on me it had been a long time since my last visit. When I called I was told the reminder card never went out to me. Maybe that is an area that could be doubled checked for those of us that are at the age that weeks are flying by like minutes! I am disabled and use Transaid - I received texts to confirm my appointment which I made back in February. No one called to tell me the office had moved to a new location. I was reimbursed my cab fare, but I think there was plenty of time to call me - the office staff knew they were moving. Also I understand that my appt was on oening day. I asked for a copy of my prescription and found out when I went to Walmart Vision Center that the prescription was incomplete. I went there on Wed., 3-12-15. It took over an hour for someone to answer the phone which delayed me at Walmart. Also I told the recptionist at that time that Dr. Gurley wanted to see me in 2 months - she had made it for one month. Getting thru to your office by telephone is a hard task.

Always feel better informed about what is going on with my vision. Feels great to see medical clinicians that take time to explain what is going on and being available to talk about why you are there. Also feels good to have supportive staff available to follow through with the Doctor's visit to make you feel good about the visit. Both of the Docs are well informed and you really don't mind which one sees you.

I was asked to update personal information and medical history and was called for examination even before completing the paperwork. Various exams were performed efficiently after which Dr. Appanitis related and answered questions concerning the results. With no prescription change required, my existing glasses were adjusted. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience.
