I was referred to Dr. Agatep by a co-worker over four years ago. She is by far the best dentist my 19 year old daughter and I have ever been to. Having had negative experiences with other dentist in the past, I was apprehensive during my first visit. Dr. Agatep immediately made me feel comfortable. Her and her amazing staff, Lindsay and Marissa, genuinely care about their patients. Dr. Agatep is incredibly thorough and always up on the latest dental technology. Recently, I was faced with a difficult situation and Dr. Agatep and he team worked together to find the best solution for me. For this and many other reasons, I believe that Dr. Agatep is hands down the best dentist I’ve ever been to. I will continue to trust her with my teeth for many years to come. I dont think the lady in the front office told anyone I was waiting for a while! But once, I was greeted by Marissa, she was very articulate and helpful. Dr Agatep seemed very caring and knowledgeable and I am glad I found her office for my treatment.

I went in for a cleaning and the hygienist ripped off my fixed retainer. It didn't fall off--she put floss between my teeth under the bar then yanked up, painfully ripping the wire & bond off of 3 teeth. I was told that the dentist could see me the next day and to be careful when eating. I had to ask her to remove the loose wire in my mouth. When I came in to get it fixed I was left waiting for 35 minutes. The dentist (not Dr. Agatep) came back, stuffed cotton in my mouth, and starting putting glue on the backs of my teeth, on top of what was already there. They put a new round wire in instead of the flat one from before. I now have a wire the protrudes more than before & large bumps of glue that stick out much more (more on one side, where all of the glue hadn't been ripped off), which is VERY annoying when it bumps into my tongue every time I talk and is affecting my speech. Clearly this service did not meet my expectations (especially when all I wanted was a simple cleaning).

Thuy is fantastic - really takes the time to explain things so I get it and also very conscious of my comfort levels during the cleaning and adjusting her approach to suit. Very thorough, polite and friendly. 5 star service.

I am deathly afraid of going to the dentist. I have gone 4 times in 20 years because of my fear. I finally got enough courage to call and set up my appointment .The entire staff made me feel welcomed and assured me that I would have a pleasant expierience.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I have one complaint: when I was x-rayed, Marissa (sp?) took at least a few tries to get each x-ray, and with some, like the left bitewings, took 5 or 6 tries. I know that the evidence of major health effects due to x-rays may be inconclusive, but it still suggests a lack of concern for a patient's welfare. In addition, a thyroid shield was not used. On a positive note, most of my treatment was explained to me very well. Also, Thuy was very careful cleaning my teeth and delivered anesthetic expertly and painlessly. I am interested to see the effects of the laser treatment on my gums and my only complaint there is I would have liked Thuy to have better explained the differences between antibiotics (which Dr. Agatep prescribed) and laser treatment.

I wish the dental assistant would have been more attentive. I acquired a massive blister because the suction machine was sucking on my lip throughout the length of appt which was more than an hour. I had no sensation to notice. It was the first time that had ever happened to me.

Everyone was very polite and courteous. I would like to specifically comment on Lindsey as being very helpful and on top of things (appointments, getting previous dental records, insurance info, etc.) and Thuy who performed my deep cleaning. She was the most gentle and and the same time most thorough hygeniest I have ever had work on my mouth.

Everytime I've gotten X-rays it takes 4-5 times to get it right. That is lot if extra douse. Also I get an enormous amount of emails and text messages.

The hygienist was very gentle, always checked I was OK. She was highly sensitive to my state, trying to make it easy on me, yet would not compromise the process quality. The results are fantastic! A perfect cleaning! Huge Thanks for an excellent work!

The new dental hygenist was amazing!! She reminded me of the one I started with, Diane back in 2010..Loved her and miss her! But Thuy, the new hygenist was equally awesome! I couldn't be more happier! I actuallyed stayed away from cleaning and checkups for 8 months because I didn't like the previous hygenist, was always fast and always hurting me. But I gave Thuy a chance and she succeeded!! She explains all her steps and was very gentle! Also did a great job cleaning!! Will come back on time for my checkups!! Also love the front desk - Lindsey!! She is amazing. She explains everything so clear and made sure everything I need to know!

Your newest dental hygienist, Thuy (Twee, not sure of the correct spelling of her name) is simply the best. She gave me the best cleaning of my life. She has the lightest hands. She has a feather, but extremely thorough approach to cleaning your teeth. She was able to clean my teeth carefully without hurting my gums or causing my gums to bleed. This was often the case in my past cleanings. During the cleaning, she kept checking if I was okay. I informed her that I have sensitivity in the upper left hand area of my mouth and instead of spraying my mouth with water, she asked me to sip it and gargle. Who knew?! Simple tricks to make your visit and cleaning experience as nice as possible. Very, very smart and kind lady. I hope that you keep her!!!

I was told that my treatment was covered by insurance, but it was never checked. I had to pay 170.00 out of pocket when i was told it wld only b 25.00. My next visit will b 75 but still need to check it out and find out why Iwas told both visits wld b 25.00.

No improvements needed, everything was great!!! After moving to San Diego recently from UK I was anxious to find a new dentist! I'm delighted with Dr. Kathrina Agatep , I needed 2fillings and I didn't feel a thing!!! Not even the needle for numbing. She and her staff are amazing. THANKYOU : )

I love that you usually have plenty of availability to make appointments. I've been to dentists where you have to book MONTHS in advance. Your team also does little things that make a big difference, like looking at my benefits ahead of time to see what's covered (for example, cleanings twice in a calendar year v every 6 months). Very quick to respond to calls/emails, and always very friendly. Also, I don't get a hard sell every time I'm there - I was a little leery after my 1st appointment when you told me I needed to replace some old fillings and I was waiting for the hard-sell this time for a deep cleaning, orthodontics, <<insert expensive service here>> but the hygienist said that I'm doing a great job brushing and flossing and skipped the sales pitch. I did have to wait a bit this last time and the receptionist was at lunch so there was no one to great me but overall my experience has been great.

I have just one concern that I received a notice of $400 balance that I have no idea it was existed before. So it would be much better if I know how much I have to pay out of my own pocket before I get the service.

I always get the feeling - i could be wrong about my perception, but it's still my perception - that the P&L comes first at your office. I've been to so many dentists (because of a lot of moves) and you guys are fabulous at certain things, i.e., no waiting. I'm all for profit - just hide it a bit better, that's all I'm saying.

Headphone - great idea. Blanket - great idea. Eye protectors - great idea. Monitor to explain what exactly is going on - great idea. Method to inject so it does not hurt (as bad) - great idea. I realize we have to go over the financials, but I always come away from the office thinking - that is a business and they don't really care about my teeth and health. I am not sure how to get over that... Maybe it's how everything works now, but back in the day, it seemed different. Maybe when we go over financials, you can show me that other dental offices charge the same amount or something...

I was called the wrong name 3 different times by the receptionist and 2 other dental assistants. I also waited for over 15 minutes and when I was finally called back the cleaning took over 45 minutes. The hygienist (Thue?) was very friendly at first but then as the appointment continued she literally told me that I needed to floss a total of 8 times. I assured her that I heard her and realize I do need to improve my flossing, however, it felt like a lecture and did not make me feel comfortable.

My hygienist was Thuy and she was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. She provided helpful advices on dental care and showed me the proper way to floss. Lindsey (at the front desk) was also very friendly and professional. She explained my insurance benefits very well so I could understand easily.

After I left I realized something - I don't think that anyone checked my teeth for cavities. Usually the doctor comes in and does a 'softness' check on each tooth to see if there could be a cavity.

New staff was very nice. I was glad to see that the young woman at the front desk was able to make the appointment for my daughter. I live in south bay and getting an appointment that works for our schedules is quite difficult since you close early and do not open in the evenings or on the weekends. I would suggest having at least one or two days a week with after 5pm hour so folks who can't get time off work as easily as others can have an opportunity to visit your offices. It is always a challenge getting an appointment to see Dr. Agatep.

I will have to admit I found the office via Yelp..and after reading a few positive reviews I felt I could trust my teeth (and fear of dentist) to Dr Agatep & staff. After a full set of xrays/pictures and consultation with both Dr and Jenny to review payment plan I felt like my options to get my teeth and mouth back in shape for the New Year! I really liked the fact that Jenny went over by priority my treatment plan and the costs that my insurance would cover and what would come out of pocket. This was the first office to go through this with me. I greatly appreciate this feature! I am certainly not a fan of going to the dentist but if this is any indication of the care and thoroughness Dr Agatep takes, then I'm sure my future procedures as well as the health of my mouth will be in great hands.

The appointments have been changed or edited the last three times I have been there. There is confusion on what I was the appointment was for. My brightening was interrupted 14 time in a short visit due to the staff shortage at the front(not happy with the whitening), during my cleaning a crown had come off and the insurance was charged for the re-cementing of the crown. The office has changed a lot in how the care is given from when we first came to you. I wanted to offer this feedback to you so that you are aware of the customers views of how things are going.

Overall, the experience was very positive - the staff is great & the scheduling was flexible and convenient. Just a couple areas for improvement: I do wish they would have emailed me the paperwork to complete prior to my visit (when I walked in they asked me if I had, but seeing as how they never emailed it to me the answer was "no"). Overall, Dr. Agatep was lovely - she told me my teeth look great… but then told me I need to have 4 fillings replaced and get a new one and put several other teeth on "watch". Which is it - do I have nice teeth or is my mouth a war zone? Interestingly, my last dentist told me I needed a bunch of work too... but completely different work! I was really hoping to find a dentist who would level with me about what I really needed and not try to get me to drop my entire year's Flex Spending in one visit. For now, I'm pleased, but cautious.

The hygienist was not professional & did not do a good or thorough job in doing my 'deep cleaning'. This deep cleaning felt like a regular cleaning from my old dentist,& better yet, she only did one quadrant! My biggest issue is with how they handled my "need" for a 'deep cleaning'. The charges & process was NOT explained thoroughly & it was unprofessional & UNACCEPTABLE. No one took the time to thoroughly walk me through my recommended treatments & felt I went in not knowing what I was getting - hence, only got 1 quadrant cleaned & spent nearly 2 hours in the office! Even while my cleaning was in process, front desk gal ran back several times and interrupted the hygienist to ask about prescriptions bc she didn't know! When I explained my frustration with the lack of comm, I was pulled aside to hear the front desk girl apologize bc she was 'busy' giving consults. NO EXCUSE FOR POOR SERVICE!!EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED WITH THE UTMOST CARE &SERVICE. RIDICULOUS how this office is RAN

I've seen someone different on my last three visits. I thought this most recent visit was going to be a full exam based on the conversation I had during my last visit. The person I saw on this visit (Thuy) was very nice - but she just dove right into a cleaning, didn't ask me any questions, and afterward, I had to really prompt her to give me information about how it went and what would be happening during the next visit. Also, she told me that I could raise my hand if I needed a break during the cleaning. She was using a lot of water, and it started pouring down the side of my face. I raised my hand, and she said "OK," but kept on going for several minutes. I got drenched. Afterward, she apologized, but still - what if I *really* needed a break? Overall, not a good experience. I'm going to be looking for a new dentist, which is unfortunate, because I had such positive experiences in the beginning (with Diane) - but it really seems to be going downhill.

Solange, Your Dental Hygenist, did a wonderful job. First she measured the recession along gumline for each and every tooth...and at the same time, checked for any 'pockets'. Then she proceeded to do a thorough ultrasonic cleaning. This was followed by a careful and thorough scaling-off of any and all hard deposits. Finally I asked to grade my home dental care with a letter grade...which she was happy to provide. Now I know exactly where I stand with my dental homecare program.

Solange is nice, but a bit rough with the tools; the suction sometimes went too far down my throat. The secretary was alright, though she doesn't know Kathrina's real name (she called her "Catrina"). I've been disappointed about making appointments in general. Over a month ago, I got an email saying I should click a button to request an appointment, which I did, and it said I would receive a call from them soon. I never got a call back. I called the office three weeks ago, and I always got the "call center" rather than the actual office, which only left messages for the office. And only on the third time I called and left a message did I actually get a call back. Something needs to be done about making appointments and reaching the office.

Overall, good work by Dr. Agatep; she is very thorough and professional. I was disappointed by the poor follow-up. Beth stated that she would email me in between my 1st and 2nd visits (2 day gap) with an update on what work was going to be done on my 2nd visit. I never received an email, call, or text so I could not appropriately plan. It's important to do what you say you're going to do; it's an integral part of customer service.

New hygenist standards seems much less than Diane's, and did meet my expectation of a thorough teeth cleaning. Time spent on cleaning was less than twenty minutes when Dianes lasted 45 to 60 minutes.

I had a new hygenist who made my cleaning a little more uncomfortable on my known jaw issues than the others and kept my mouth open for much longer increments during the cleaning than I'm used to making my throat become very dry to the point of making me ask her to stop and my having to cough and my throat becoming very irritated and sore. Very good cleaning, just a different style I didn't like.

I used to hate going to the Dentist, but I must say that you all have changed my opinion on that. It's so nice that the whole team remembers who I am and is concerned about my needs. I ended being late for my appointment, but they were all very patient and understanding with me. Everyone was very, very nice. Diane worked on my teeth and was very kind and gentle. I look forward to having my work done here in the future........

I can't remember what the name of the girl (asian, if that helps) who did X-rays, cleaning, etc, but she was fabulously informative and patient. I did not come to your office for over a year because the dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth during my last visit berated me (and my husband) for having bad teeth and made us both feel like she thought we've never seen a toothbrush in our lives. A much improved experience.

Diane always does such an incredible job cleaning my teeth. I absolutely love to go to have my teeth cleaned because she is the BEST! Everyone in the office is wonderful and I never have to wait long for my appts. I really can't think of any way you can improve your office, you guys are the best.
