Dr. Vegas' Blog From the desk of Dr. H.L. Greenberg

As 2018 begins, I look forward to the challenges and adventures of a fantastic new year. Last year, I was asked to write the lead article for “The Dermatologist” entitled, “Trends for 2017”. As it turns out, I failed to predict multiple emerging 2017 therapies, which we ultimately incorporated into the Las Vegas Dermatology practice. The coolest trend was using ones own blood with platelet rich plasma (PRP) to regrow hair and help treat wrinkles. Another 2017 trend was the LightStim family of LED light therapies to reduce bruising, discomfort and improve post procedure results- while LightStim’s at home acne treatment light device is now sold in our office. Other new light therapies include a low-level laser light helmet to regrow hair called the Theradome- 2017 turned into quite the hair-raising adventure.
Half way through 2017, I had the opportunity to sit with Guinwa Zeineddine, Miss Arab USA 2014 (@guinwaz) to talk about, “What is beautiful skin?” My answer, “Cancer free skin is beautiful skin, everything else is personal preference.” Using lasers, microneedles or injections for hair growth can be painful, and in 2018, we are including a new way to reduce pain through a nitrous oxide machine called, Pronox. This machine will allow LVDerm patients to breathe in a combination of nitrous oxide and air to reduce pain and relieve anxiety- although there will be an additional fee for using this device, we are all hoping for a pain-free 2018.
For 6 years now, Michelle Gill has served as the Las Vegas Dermatology office manager. Michelle has been the glue of our organization, keeping us together as a team and making sure Las Vegas Dermatology was a well-run, efficient, advanced, top tier dermatology practice. Our team meets every Wednesday, and Michelle has led those meetings with enthusiasm and made sure we followed our vision of providing our team and those we treat with a “Healthier & More Beautiful Life”. Leslie McSharry, who will be with Las Vegas Dermatology for 7 years this April, has been our front office supervisor and is now our new office manager. We wish Michelle well on her future endeavors and welcome Leslie to her new team role.
In 2017, Las Vegas Dermatology celebrated its 10 year Anniversary, and I am motivated for the next 10 years here in Las Vegas. Last year I kept up on the latest in the medical world through my continued relationship with UNLV School of Medicine and the residents who rotate through my clinic, I gave resident lectures, spoke at an international dermatology meeting and multiple national meetings. Although, I do not yet know which trends will come about for 2018, I plan to attend more meetings, give more lectures and to make 2018 the best year ever for my patients and I. We would love for you to keep up with us on our social media platforms, to have your skin examined, and for you to visit our clinic and aesthetic team. At Las Vegas Dermatology, we will be looking forward and are prepared for whatever the future has in store, we hope you will join us.
