Of the many stories associated with Poindexter Dental, there is not one as spectacular as the story of Dr. Poindexter Jr and his first infant patient.

It was a bright sunny day back in the year 1960 when one-year-old Tracy Mire was learning to walk. She found her way to a dresser drawer and opened it up. Going through the clothes, she collapsed and hit her face on the inside of the drawer, busting her lip and breaking off her baby tooth into the gums. 

Virgie Mire, Tracy’s mother, rushed her daughter over to Dr.Poindexter’s office to get her baby's injury treated. and relieve her pain. Dr.Poindexter Jr., although surprised by the child’s young age, did not hesitate to help her get out of pain. He had to surgically remove the tooth from Tracy’s fragile mouth, and afterward, he sewed her gums back up to heal. He successfully removed the tooth under local anesthesia and in turn Tracy was able to go home the same day. The surgical removal of the baby’s tooth enabled the permanent tooth to grow in its place without any trouble. Tracy grew up with a beautiful smile! 

Fast forward 55 years later to Tracy’s mother, Mrs.Virgie Mire, remembering the story from the 1960’s, returning to have her dental work done today. The stories she tells of her and Dr.Poindexter Jr’s relationship within the community gives us a nostalgic glimpse of the special times they shared!
