Eye patch that was provided for the test was irritating my eye. There appeared to be something on it that was causing a stinging sensation that went away after it was swapped for another eye patch. No sure how accurate my test results were because of having to constantly be blinking due to the irritation.

Dr. Whitaker literally saved my life. I chose her office out of all the other places because when I spoke to her receptionist, she was the only one I talked to who really seemed to care. Every single person I spoke to every step of the way was so personable and likable. Dr. Whitaker is the only one who accurately diagnosed the medical problem that I had seen multiple doctors and been to the ER multiple times for over the span of 3 weeks, and it only took one visit with her. After I stayed 4 days in Huntsville hospital, my neuro-ophthalmologist was excited to hear that I see her and he said I can follow up with her instead of him because she is amazing and I’ll be in great hands with her. Just as I was getting discharged from the hospital, I got a call from her office saying that she was checking in on me and wanted to know if I was okay. I was so glad that I was able to tell her office how grateful I am for everyone on their team.

I can legitimately tell you that from the very first hello to the final moment… these folks know exactly what they are doing. From the first test to determine my situation, I realized that my eyes and vision was in good hands, and all worries and concerns disappeared. I firmly believe all of your visual concerns can and will be addressed to your complete satisfaction just like mine were . I totally trust Dr. Whitaker and the fine group of her trained and gracious professionals there. I could not possibly recommend them any higher to everyone.

As a patient for the last two years, I have only been impressed with every time I come in. The staff is friendly and engaging. They make sure I have text and phone call reminders for my appointments and are always helpful, professional and courteous. The technicians are always friendly, informative and have a solid understanding of what they do. I never feel uninformed about what is going on during the appointment. And Dr. Whitaker, well, there is not a better optometrist in Limestone or Madison county. She is very thorough, personable and caring. She is very knowledgeable, but also will not hesitate to refer you to a specialist if needed. My family is so thankful to have found such a great practice.

I am new to Athens and Alabama in general. I haven't had an eye exam in 4 years, so I looked online for a good optometrist to ease back in and be able to see again. I was astonished by how pleasant this entire experience was. From the initial phone call, the receptionist or technician who answered spent the time and had great patience with figuring out which vision insurance I had (this is so hard to find nowadays). Upon my visit, everyone was more than friendly and accommodating, including the optometrist Dr. Whitaker. She was extremely amiable and competent. I was also helped with frame selection and they spent time yet again to sit me down and compare the best plan regarding price efficiency and getting the best deal possible. I am so happy and relieved that I have found a wonderful facility for my eye exams from here on. Thank you so much, Athens Eye Care!

Everybody was fantastic! The only thing I didn’t care for was when it came to choosing my frames. I am retired & on a budget. There are NO prices on any of the frames. I felt pressured as I was told “oh! These look great on you” or “this color is perfect for you!” only to find out after choosing a frame that the cost was much, much higher than I could afford. That’s when -to add to my embarrassment - the wooden box was brought out from its hiding place under the desk with the much less expensive frames and lower prices. I suggest that BEFORE showing a patient very expensive frames that they love, but cannot afford, that signs are put above sections such as $300-$400 & $500-$600, etc. so that we (patients) aren’t surprised and/or embarrassed when the final cost is presented to us. Again, everyone was very kind and helpful.
