Dr. Loftus is awesome. This was my first time coming to see him--from out of town. My previous neurologist had literally given up on helping my status migraine. She didn't even know that's what it was (or if she did, never mentioned it). I was desperate and needed someone who could help and he came recommended by a friend. The 2.5 hour drive was well worth it. He listened to me for quite a long while, asked questions, and had A PLAN. Exactly what I needed. If a didn't work, there would be b, then option c. He asked questions about things that I had never thought about (and neither had many other doctors). I left with optimism I haven't had for a long time. Listening was like drinking through a firehose. There was a lot of information to take in, and when you don't feel well to start, it can be a lot. I tried to take high level notes but luckily at the end of the visit, the office gave me a summary of what we had discussed and detailed instructions of his plan for treatment and how to take medications. I'm looking forward to being able to consult with him virtually at future appointments and know that he has treatments available (in Houston) if I need them. By the way, get the iHeadache app. It is so handy. I'd been looking for one for so long and it's fantastic; finally got rid of the old notebook tracker.

Thank God for Dr. Loftus! For the first time in my life I developed a Status Migraine which in general are resistant to the usual pain meds and typically send people straight to the ER. Dr. Loftus came with high praise from family members who are longtime patients of his and who travel from out of town and even out of the country for their appointments with him. Thankfully, I was able to schedule an emergency appointment. Not only did Dr. Loftus treat me as though I had been one of his patients for years, he also worked tirelessly to make me pain free, often times checking on my pain level on the weekend. Fortunately he was also able to keep me out of the ER by treating me directly in his office. When I shared with my internist all of Dr. Loftus’ very thorough medical notes, he assured me that I would be hard pressed to find the care and treatment I received with in an office setting, especially in such an immediate manner. He also assured me that Dr. Loftus was clearly very skilled, very smart and extremely dedicated to helping his patients find the appropriate treatments for the specialized care of migraines. I feel grateful every day to Dr. Loftus to be able to say that I am now on the road to a speedy recovery from this difficult experience and well on my way to getting back to a pain-free life. Dr. Loftus and staff truly do make me feel like family, as if I am their only patient. I know this is by design. Thank you for making me feel like my pain, my headaches and mostly—my comfort and my relief are important to you. I cannot tell you how much relief that provides in and of itself. After 30 years of migraines, I’ve heard it all, and I’d felt like I had tried it all. You get depressed from the pain and from the disappointment and the lack of understanding from loved ones and colleagues. You have guilt for complaining “again”—- when you’re “fine” by all the tests, for which you are grateful, but part of you wishes you could point to an image and say, “See, there it is! That’s the thing that is so painful, it feels like it’s going to kill me, like it actually might— on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.” You struggle with anxiety over making plans— maybe you won’t be able to make it to this event or meeting. Once the pain hits, you struggle with crippling anxiety along with that pain that it may last an hour, a day or a even few days— while every minute of that time is excruciating enough simply from the pain. ER docs don’t usually have the care or capacity to help you so there is no use in going there. Most doctors will pass you along, because you’re just “too much”— Well, I want to say that MIGRAINES ARE TOO MUCH. Thank you Dr. Loftus, thank you Blakeley and staff— for being people who strive to make a difference in the lives of your patients. You know just how “much” all of this “too much” really is! I cannot tell you what a difference you have made to me and to my family the past few years. You have changed my life; you have looked at my migraines from every angle. You know that what helps these ten patients may not help this one, and while you’re so happy for the ten— you, Doc, are the guy who really worries about the one. Treatments actually ARE progressing every day, and Dr. Loftus is right on top of them.

Dr. Loftus and his team have literally changed my way of life. I was suffering from debilitating migraines and often ended up in the emergency room to obtain pain relief when medications were not working. I have been under the care of a neurologist since I was 5 years old for migraines. I have been on virtually every medication and prophylactic available to migraine sufferers. Nothing kept my headaches at bay. Two years ago, after 2 visits to the ER in a week, I began researching neurologists and migraine specialists. I was drawn to Dr. Loftus' mission and after reading many reviews, I scheduled a visit. Dr Loftus, I have been a patient of his for 14 years. After 15 years of basically Neurologist, They never believed that the medication that helps most, imatrex. It didn’t help. They thought I was lying to get drugs. Yes I wanted a medicine that would help. What patient who has migraines every day since I woke up with a headache when I was 30. It never stopped. 2006 my Husband found dr. Loftus. Best thing I ever did. He won’t stop. He will keep trying different things and combinations. Every month he tried , never gave up and didn’t think I was a liar. It was a 5 hour drive one way. Worth all the time and hotels. He cares, He won’t give up on you. Ever!!!

I finally found the right doctor and the right meds after dealing with what I thought was just vertigo then told I had a vestibular migraine for 3 mos. and after seeing 2 ENTs and 1 other neurologist it led me to Dr. Loftus. Dr. Loftus has literally changed my quality of life. I had been seeing the same neurologist for over 11 years. I had gained 20 pounds, was having migraines 3-4 times a week, and had visited the ER twice in two months for the level of severity of my migraines. I found Dr. Loftus online through testimonials. I have suffered from migraines since age 3 and as I near the age of 50 they have grown continuously worse. I have been with a good neurologist for the last 10 years, but I needed someone who understood migraines and could provide me with answers and most importantly, relief. I have suffered with migraines since 2012. Not just any migraines severe, debilitating migraines . I would be bedridden for days, weeks and at one point even months. I have been to doctors all over Louisiana and Texas since the end of 2012. I finally started going to a neuro-ophthalmologist in the Houston area in either 2015 or 16. ( Dr. Rosa Tang ) She was treating me for another health problem that I have been suffering with since 2012 as well. When I gave her my medical history I told her about my migraines. They would be so severe at times that I would get migraines in my eyes and it would feel like someone was stabbing me with a knife in my eyes. I would also get extremely nauseated and have even thrown up on several occasions due to the severity of my migraines. Dr. Tang referred me to Dr. Loftus sometime around the beginning of this year. ( 2017 ) Honestly, I thought why not I’ve been to all the other doctors having very little hope that he would be able to help me. I met with Dr. Loftus and he was very thorough. He stayed in the room with me asking questions for at least 20 minutes. He started me on a new medicine and did treatment on me that day. From that day forward my migraines have gotten so much better. I’m slowly getting my life back. We have had to adjust my medicine a couple of times. But I can tell a huge difference since I began going there. Yes, I still do get migraines however, they are nowhere near as severe as they used to be. I can function so much better now since Dr Loftus has been training me. He doesn’t just throw his hands up in the air and say I don’t know how to help you, he keeps trying new things until he finds a solution. He is phenomenal, his staff is great and I’m so thankful that God made a way and lead me to his office. I highly, highly recommend him if anyone out there has had their life stolen from them by migraines.

I could tell that Dr. Loftus had reviewed my paperwork before my appointment. The majority of my appointment time was spent on resolving my issues and not me telling all of my medical history. I love the patient portal and being able to send a message to Dr. Loftus when I have a question. He also responds very quickly. I've never experienced this kind of service at any other doctor's office before.

Dr. Loftus has been a blessing to our family. He's the only doctor who has taken the time to seen about the best treatment for my husband. We now only have to see him once a year (not that we don't want to see him), but that's how good he has been able to handle our medical situation.

For 20+ years I have been told I have Migraines, which was amended to chronic cluster headaches. I have taken numerous medications, given myself shots, applied diets free of caffeine and chocolate, had sinus and neck surgeries, acupuncture, cortisone shots in my head, MRI's, CAT scans, not to mention all countless visits to the ER, all to no avail. Within 10 minutes speaking with Dr Loftus, he informed me that I had been misdiagnosed all these years, he knew what was wrong, and he has a game plan to help me. I feel extremely confident in his diagnosis and believe I may actually be going in the right direction for once! Thank you so very much Doc, you ROCK! The staff at Bellaire Neurology are great and Dr. Loftus is super easy to talk to and throws some humor in there so it's not your average boring doctor's visit. I feel like he and his staff really want to get their patients feeling better and he recommends the best option for you as far as treatment of migraines or anything neuro related. Visited the practice last week and had a great experience, from Tina who made easy to make my appointment and do all the paperwork to get me in as fast as possible, to Dr. Loftus! I have never had a neurologist listen to me and be willing to help me the way Dr. Lof us is. This has been a 30 year struggle for me and I have never left an appointment with so much gratitude and hope. All of the staff have been amazing and compassionate. I have been driving from Spring to Bellaire in order to go to Dr. Loftus. You never have more than a 5-minute wait and he actually takes the time to listen to what you have to say. I feel he attempts to continually look for ways to improve my health issues. I have gone to many, many neurologists in the Houston area over a period of 30 yrs and no one has come close to Dr. Loftus. Also, his staff is fabulous. They are always pleasant and happy to help in any way.

After seeing another neurologist and receiving no answers and my condition actually worsening, my husband and I did research and we found Dr. Loftus, which was the best decision we could have ever made. I have only seen him once in office so far but was so impressed. He took his time, was extremely thorough and answered every question we had and by the time we left, we had a working diagnosis and plan of care. I am now already starting to feel better and it's all because of Dr. Loftus. His staff was great, very pleasant and helpful. We drove 2 1/2 hours to see him and absolutely no regrets!!!

I had a telephone visit. Dr. Loftus asks lots of questions to see how I'm feeling and what is working for me. He is very easy to talk to and listens to what I have to say. He gives treatment options so that together we can decide what is best for me. He encourages me to contact him if I need to.

The doctor's response on dosage regime through the patient portal was helpful with my first days on the new meds. I think some questions might be sharpened with aspects of your online presence that would better help evaluate its acceptance among patients. I think question 6 covers what is asked in question 8. Another question might address handle reminders and followups on appointments could be handled on the patient portal.

I can not say enough good things about Dr Loftus and his staff. They genuinely care about their patients and go out of their way to make sure you are seen and get the medical care you need. He has a headache app which has been beneficial for me to track migraine triggers and for us to find appropriate treatment. Dr Loftus has an email system where you can email him directly regarding questions, problems or concerns and he will respond in a timely manner. That is very rare in the medical field these days. I highly recommend this physician for your neurology needs!

BC/BS does not require ssn to process claims. Insurance, except for Medicare, does not use SSN because of identity theft issues. This is extremely bothersome as you have drivers license numbers as well as insurance info, and address.

Re the submission of a patient's billing to Medicare so they may be reimbursed, it would be helpful if you would submit a billing for an experimental procedure even if Medicare will decline payment. Our secondary, Blue Cross, will pay for this procedure but has to have that refusal from Medicare and your submission for us just saves a step. Thanks.

I feel that Dr. Loftus is becoming more rushed when seeing patients. When I first started seeing him about a year ago, I felt like he spent more time with me and was more thorough. The last few visits, I feel like he answers questions very quickly and just seems like he is ready to get out the door. I don't really feel as heard. It also seems he has no clue about my medical issues when he enters the exam room and has to read my chart in front of me before talking to me. I feel like he should review the patient's chart quickly before he enters the room. I have always liked Dr. Loftus and his staff and feel he is a good neurologist, but lately he just seems not the same patient-focused doctor I came to love.
