Outstanding optometric service provided by Dr. Frank and his staff. Dr. Frank is highly professional and knowledgeable, very personable and cares about his patients. He takes the time to explain eye test results and provides solid advice for addressing eye concerns. I was impressed by the technology and equipment used to evaluate my eyes. The office offers a wide variety of frames and I was extremely impressed by the services provided when I chose new glasses.

Optometrist sounded very impatient and frustrated with me. He did not allow me to speak. I arrive 15 minutes early and he seemed really irritated by it even though I was completely willing to wait he seemed really unapologetic even though he said he was sorry that I felt that he’s not really open to hearing the problems. I was facing with the glasses.

This office is so accommodating to my crazy schedule: they get me in on very short notice when possible. The doctor is thorough and his examinations, and very clear on explanations and remedies to any issues I’ve had. His office staff is so friendly and efficient. I highly recommend Mt. Tam Optometry.!

I would highly rate Dr. Frank. However, I would not recommend the staff in the section that sells glasses. They are somewhat on the rude side, making me feel like what I'm asking for is dumb. I have had 3 interactions with one of the employees there, and he has always been rude and impatient.

Terrible experience, overall. I was on time for my 11 am appointment then waited for over 30 minutes in the waiting area. During that time, I noticed all of the staff that I saw were in sweatpants - this did not instill confidence in the professionalism of this office. I had a work call at 12:30 so I was very cognizant of timing. I was finally taken back for the initial testing and discussion with the assistant. She was very friendly but quite inappropriate in some of her stories and advice, all of which were not eye-related. I mentioned to her that I had a 12:30 call and she said that shouldn't be an issue and then seated me in the back area. I waited there for about 30 minutes without any acknowledgment. The whole while, I am hearing SCREAMING and cursing from the front desk as the women there were apparently trying to catch a spider. It was grating and startling. I finally went to the front desk and reminded them I was still waiting and one woman immediately got up and got me in one of the exam rooms, so I guess it had just been waiting. The doctor finally came in about 12:15 and at this point, I'd had to cancel my 12:30 call. He assured me I would be out before my 1 pm call. The Dr. was very nice and thorough, but I was so irritable from the lack of respect for my time to this point that there was no redeeming the experience. I was not out the door until 12:50 and I barely made it home for my call. Nearly two hours for an eye appointment, without any complications. That is unacceptable, as was the overall professionalism and tone of this office.

It was incredibly annoying to receive 10+ messages prior to my appointment to fill out a form that at first was a broken link and then because my data was input incorrectly, was not accessible yet I continued to get both text and email messages to fill out the forms. Due to your staff input error, you were also unable to access my insurance data. If the people that really mattered in the process (Dr. and glass specialist) had not been competent, thorough, and polite my review would not be nearly as favorable. I realize that finding help is difficult at this time.

Very nice, accessible eye care in San Anselmo. Dr. Frank's bona fides are top of the class (UCLA, UC Berkeley) and he has many years' experience in Marin. Very personable and helpful. His practice features a high-tech retinal scanner that provides advanced imagery immediately available on his computer screen. Costs a little extra but to me it's worth it to provide your doctor with the best possible information for diagnostic purposes. Also, you are spared the agony of having your eyes dilated, arrrrgh, Part of Dr. Frank's practice is given over to a very capable frames specialist, Craig, who displays a good selection of frames and offers insight into them. Craig has been known to come to the aid of idiots who somehow sat on their glasses, on the spot and at no charge. Consider bringing him pizza. I've been relying on Dr.Frank for many years, have to say my most recent visit here was the best!

I have been going to Dr. Frank for over 20 years and have always been wowed by the quality of the examination, professionalism and courtesy of the staff, and the great help I get from Craig on fitting glasses. For the first time, I had an issue with new glasses, and wondered if it would be hard to get resolved as it had been a couple of months since I got them (I moved out of state in the meantime.) The staff and Dr. Frank welcomed me warmly and took care of me, no questions asked!

First, it's easy to park. There was no waiting. I was in in a few minutes. It's a nice visit. No sitting in a room waiting for someone to show up. (Staying dressed is a good thing but it is an eye examination). Tests are explained. When I leave I feel like I know everything I should know about my vision. And the cappuccino is excellent. I'm in and out in less than an hour.

I received excellent care here. Both the clerical staff and clinical staff were above and beyond any expectations. My overall health is rather complicated, so my eye exams can be complicated as well. The Doctor spent extra time being extra thorough in my exam and made detailed notes for my other doctors without once making me feel like they were rushed. This kind of comprehensive care paired with professionalism and kindness, is not common enough these days. So yes, I'd definitely recommend this place.

The gracious and courteous staff at Mt Tam made me feel welcome and took good care of me. I had an some eye tests and then was seen by Dr Frank who is very knowledgeable and reassuring. He help me come up with a good plan to help solve my issues with my eyes and made some recommendations for the type of glasses to purchase. They have a large selection of glasses to choose from and Craig was able to help me narrow down choices. I am looking forward to picking up my glasses in about 10 days. I would highly recommend Mt Tam Optometry for your eye and vision needs. PS: I was offered a delicious demitasse of espresso during the short wait for my consultation with Dr Frank. I thought that was a nice touch!

I think the Mt Tam Optometric Center is great! The front office staff is always willing to go the extra mile to make things work for you. They always remember who you are and are very accommodating. The eye exam machinery seems really advanced and the tech moves you through quickly. I use to go to pacific eye associates in San Francisco - and they never did such an elaborate testing. And then there is Dr Lassa Frank! Fantastic! Smart, funny and always is smiling - even when pressed. As a health care provider I am impressed and would send all my patients to you guys, only I work in San Francisco and don't think people would trek out to Fairfax for their eye exams!!

This is not a review - I just wanted to call something to your attention. Lassa and everyone are great personally and professionally but your financial side is not together. I wanted to pay my balance and was told in a phone call it was over $500 when in fact it was about $150 which Ozzie (sp?) confirmed when I got there. I was also told by one person I hadn't paid for something that I had paid for - which Ozzie also corrected. Then when I made an appointment for a contact lens check I was told it was free by the person at the front desk, when in fact Ozzie told me there was a $65 charge when I arrived. I have no problem with the rates or fees, including the exam, just with being misinformed 3 times. Thanks

Tam Optometric Center and I was very pleased with the thorough examination I received and the time Dr. Frank took to examine my eyes, answer my various questions and discuss my concerns. I can't whole-heartedly recommend Mt. Tam Optometric Center. The staff didn't greet me when I arrived and the young man who gave me the initial tests didn't introduce himself or explain what was about to happen. He seemed super "green" which doesn't give patients a lot of comfort. None of the machines (initial testing or the optometrist equipment) were wiped/cleaned before I was asked to put my face (chin/forehead) on them and let's face it - I don't know what kind of germs were on those machines - blek! Craig literally saved the day. He was knowledgeable, friendly, introduced himself and answered all of my questions and researched my insurance. If I could just work w/ Craig or clones of Craig, that would be fabulous.

Great diagnostic exam, BUT... I felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable with the fellow who was processing my order for updated lenses. He pressured me to buy the most expensive progressive lenses available, which would have run me about $400. When I asked about less expensive options, I was told, "We want our customers to be happy." His explanation is that only the most expensive would be good enough. I told him I'd be happy if he'd sell me lenses within my budget. What a TURN-OFF.

Wonderful staff supporting Dr. Lassa, who is terrific with children and teens. Dr. Lassa first assessed our eldest for Chromagen lenses several years ago to help mitigate dyslexia effects. He just assessed our second child and was very honest about the % benefit in contrast to the % benefit for our eldest and I really appreciated Dr. Lassa's integrity in not trying to do a hard sell. My son felt the Chromagen tint helped, so we went with it, but it was my son's choice. Dr. Lassa has a great assortment of frames and staff in the "frame shop" who assist with finding frames and fitting them, which is so convenient. My picky youngest daughter even found a pair she is willing to wear. Amazing! I highly recommend Dr. Lassa's practice.

I have been going here for 4 years and I have excellent experience with the actual doctor and the tall gentleman who's name I forget but takes care of glasses and I'm sure 100 other things. Those two are fantastic. However the reception is absolutely horrible and it has only gotten worse. I just spent $771 dollars and when I was handed my receipt the breakdown didn't make sense and indicated a balance. When I ask the lady at the desk (who had printed the receipt) for clarification she said she didn't know what the "adjustment" and balance columns meant. I ask if anyone on staff could explain and she got another one of her co-worker who said the exact same thing. She didn't know how to explain my receipt but I should just trust them that it was all good. Are you kidding me?! She said the manager would be in the next day and that she would call me. Surprise, it's been 3 days and not a word. This is so unfortunate because I honestly never want to go back. I feel ripped off and disrespected. Too bad since the care is actually good but I need at least a sliver of decent customer service when I spend my money somewhere. If they change their front desk staff I would consider coming back. Until then, not happening. I'll spend my money somewhere else.

I have seen Dr. Frank for nearly 30 years, so I was surprised that my appointment was not with him. I was not really introduced to the new doctor. He rushed me thru the exam & seemed uninterested in me as a person. I told him that one of my eyes was red on a trip to Nicaragua. He said I had an infection. I had to clarify if I had an eye infection at the time of the exam. He said no not at the time but in Nicaragua. He did not explain how he could know that. I would not recommend him to others but always would recommend Dr. Frank. I want to request that my appointments always be with Dr. Frank. I feel the price of the exam was not worth the few minutes of time

Billed me extra for a "lens fitting" when all the doc did was give me some "free" samples. No actually fitting was required, as I knew my sizing, doc was just pushing a more expensive lens and charging me for the privilege without mentioning this bit would cost extra. Then tried to get me to come back in a week to discuss my options, charging me again for an appointment. Then concluded appointment with, "OK, go pick out some frames." Look, I know this is a business, but the shamelessness of the new doc's transparent money grabs have made me considered leavening the practice.

Randall, Just to reiterate our phone conversation, Dr. Wanon suggested you try the new Dailies Total 1 contact lens to see if we could improve your comfort. All lenses are not the same so when we try a new type of contact, we essentially have to refit you. Dr Wanon billed you a minimal refit fee to cover that refit and any other visits you may may have needed to complete the fitting. Before seeing Dr. Frank, I had no idea how important it is to see a top notch optometrist. The older I get and the more complicated my situation, I would never again go to the mall to get my eyes taken care of. Dr. Frank knows me, he knows my eyes, and he really knows what he is doing. Also he is kind and very ethical.

I was left out in the woods after dr lassa saw me. His examination was excellent. The woman who performed the initial tests was not knowledgable about what the tests were for. After dr frank's exam, I waited in the room to look at glasses with no direction on what was going to happen next. I was overwhelmed by the choices and just decided to leave. No one cared or noticed. I had heard the selection of glasses and fittings were a wonderful experience by others who have gone to this facility. I just didn't have that experience, other than being frustrated. Granted, Dr Frank said that they were short on staff and it was a Saturday which could account for these issues.

I find the "instant:" contact incredibly frusterating. I received emails to set the appt, but when I replied to change the date I did not get a response. I called and no one returned my call for two days. This has long been a problem, if you want to email/text me, then let me respond the same way. Otherwise, you get out the easy way but I have to find office hours to call back.

I was really impressed with every person who worked with me. Very impressed. I live down the street and am kicking myself that I didn't stop in when you first opened. My wife is going to make an appt shortly and I have encouraged a couple of other people to stop by. The only issue that I will point out is that I first contacted you via phone message and did not receive a return call to set up an appt. I decided to go to the web to sign up for an appt and did not get a response. I finally just went in to the office, which I should have done from the outset, and set up an appt. Someone who was not as determined as I would likely have given up and missed out on a great service. I hope that you can address these systems. That said, I am very pleased with the service and look forward to my next visit.

The only problem we had was that the appointments for my two sons took much longer than I had anticipated. Their appointments were at 4 and 4:30 but we didn't leave until 5:45. Other than that everything was excellent as usual.
